100 Things About Me

About a year ago, my good friend, Shannon posted a challenge she was given by another friend. Write 100 things about you. She passed the challenge onto her friends, bloggers or not. “Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. A Day with my Daughter

I confess... I am not a fan of field trips.
That being said, I love my children and really enjoy getting to spend time with them individually as well as seeing them in action with their friends. So, off I went to Eckert's Orchard with my Kindergartener, Emma. After meeting a mom new to PCA and an enjoyable ride with her and her daughter to Millstadt, IL, we got to the apple picking. Em and I crammed her bag full of apples. We saw pig races, got lost in the corn maze, went down the gigantic slide and then the jack-o-lober (a cannon that shoots pumpkins). It was a great day with my girl, Emma!!

Friends and Chocolate

My children attend Providence Christian Academy. Every year the school has an Auction Gala. The item that got me most excited was a Death by Chocolate Party at The Chocolate Affair in Highland, IL. John said I could bid on it and YES! I won the party. After contacting some of my gal pals, we decided a day trip was in order with the Chocolate Party to conclude the evening. What do 5 women do on a day trip? Well, anything we wanted!! First up was a visit to my friend, Laura's house to see the new countertops/appliances and the wonderful lighting, next up Target, then lunch at Rachel's Garden in Belleville, another Target run, on into Lebanon IL for some antiquing and shopping, finally as we headed in to Highland, we stopped for a "light dinner" at Farmers, then finally The Chocolate Affair for the Death by Chocolate Party. My friend, Kim, joined us there. We did scavenger hunts for prizes, took a tour of the bed & breakfast, played dress-up, ate chocolate mess cake, anything we wanted to sample out of the candy store, plus chocolate fondue. (Needless to say I didn't eat anything until dinner on Sunday.) What fun we had! My friends were very gracious to let me take a lot of pictures, most of them in my own weird style. Laughter is the best medicine and this will go down as one of my favorite days!!

Why I love being a MOM - Reason #1

I am incredibly blessed to be a Stay-at-Home-Mom (and Wife). During these toddler/baby years, I have had my crabby and ungrateful days, but overall this is THE BEST JOB any mother could have. Here is a glimpse into my world. A world that is right now mainly consumed with 2 toddlers and a baby. I have never had 2 boys leading the pack and what fun boys can be!! Since my 3 older ones have headed off to school, Jonathan and Christian spend most of their days playing in the yard. I have discovered the way to hear "You are the best, Mommy" alot more often. It involves the hose, plenty of water, plenty of mud, and a willingness to ignore the huge mud pit they can create.

Jonathan and Christian have fun playing in mud, then they get to rinse off in the shower, followed by a bath, plus they think I'm great, so we all win!

Tomorrow is John's birthday. It is amazing to see him with 6 children when I keep thinking of him as the 19 year old guy I fell in love with many years ago. I thank God for such a wonderful husband everyday of my life (many times a day really.) John is the most wonderful father too. The children adore him and what fun they all have together!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

Welcome to My World

Welcome to my world or so the saying goes. Here is my first attempt at a blog. I haven't fully decided what to do with it yet. Of course, it will be a place where all can catch up on the Dickmann's Daily Happenings, but I also plan on this beginning a place to share my thoughts on all different subjects, plus I may throw in a recipe or two. So, please bear with me as I figure all of this out and stay tuned!
